In a story for Interview Magazine, Dianna Agron, who plays GLEE’s resident (dethroned) head cheerleader Quinn Fabray, reveals that the producers for the Fox hit TV show were initially hesitant to cast her because she exuded too much innocence for the role of Quinn. “They told me to come back with straight hair and to dress sexier,” she says. “Later that week, I started work.”

Agron, whose other talents include writing screenplays (one of which is already in development) is also extending her reach beyond the small screen. She will appear in the upcoming ‘The Romantics’, an indie production starring Anna Paquin, Katie Holmes, and Candice Bergen, and will also share the silver screen with veteran stage and film actors in the upcoming musical ‘Burlesque’, starring Cher and Christina Aguilera.

‘Burlesque’ will star Cher, Christina Aguilera, Stanley Tucci, Kristen Bell, Alan Cumming and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Eric Dane. The movie is a contemporary musical about “an ambitious smalltown girl with a big voice who finds love, family and success in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club.” Cher’s character will serve as Aguilera’s mentor in the film. While her voice has been heard in many films, “Burlesque” will mark the first time Cher will be seen singing in a film she stars in, Variety reports. Cher last starred in “Tea With Mussolini” in 1999. Donald De Line is producing the film through his De Line Pictures banner. Production began Nov. 9, and the film is set for a Thanksgiving release next year.

Recent winner of the Golden Globe and People’s Choice Award for Best New Comedy, GLEE, the genre-defying new musical comedy series, follows an optimistic teacher who – against all odds and a malicious cheerleading coach – attempts to save McKinley High’s Glee Club from obscurity while helping a group of aspiring underdogs realize their true star potential. Starring Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays,Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison,Amber Riley, Mark Salling and Jenna Ushkowitz, GLEE is produced by Ryan Murphy Television in association with 20th Century FoxTelevision. Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan are co-creators of the series. Murphy, Falchuk and Dante di Loreto serve as executive producers, while Ian Brennan serves as co-executive producer.
