Album: Know Better Learn Faster
Released: 2009
Genre: Alternative/Indie
About the band: Thao & the Get Down Stay Down is a San Francisco-based alternative folk rock music group that originated in Falls Church, Virginia. It consists of Thao Nguyen (vocals, guitar) and Adam Thompson (vocals, bass guitar, keyboards). Frank Stewart (lead guitar, production) and Willis Thompson (drums) are former members of the band.

In February 2010, Dianna directed the music video for “Body” (from Thao with the Get Down‘s 2009 album Know Better Learn Faster). Dianna met singer Thao Nguyen over Skype while Thao was touring in Europe, after Dianna approached her about directing a video. The video was shot on Valentine’s Day on Dianna’s bed, and premiered on the website for Oxfam America; a non-profit whose mission is to end poverty and injustice. In addition to releasing the video, Dianna and Thao shot a quick introduction video where the encourage people to support the amazing work done by Oxfam America. “We had fun making it. I don’t know why you trusted me, when you didn’t know me at first, but I’m grateful.” Dianna says and laughs. Below you can see the full video directed by Dianna, with their full Oxfam introduction.
